About Us

Hi, we are Blaire and Lucy!

We are a couple based in South-East England who have an unending amount of passion for animals. Lucy is 31 and is a veterinary surgeon (@drlucyrobson) and Blaire is a 28 year old teacher. Between us we have two cats, two dogs and eleven rabbits (follow our instagram page for more madness - @zoo_at_no1).

Whilst Lucy is paving her career towards specialising in exotics, Blaire is becoming more of a crazy bunny owner each day!

Here is our story about our bunny fluffle!

It all started with Blaire getting Sootie, a handsome 2 year old dutch followed by his wifey for lifey, Mabel, a beautiful 2 year old lop- this was the easiest bonding we had experienced… some say love at first sight!

Then came Buddy, a gorgeous and rather large harlequinn-ish lop. Some say Buddy is more like a dog than a rabbit, he is the most adventurous bunny we have ever met! Hoping for 3 musketeers was a long shot as Mabel had other ideas and got her boxing gloves on! This bonding process took months as we too were learning how to bond in the right way and seeked lots of advice. Finally, we had progress, something we genuinely thought wouldn’t happen, and 2 + 1 officially became 3.

Number 4 is Otto, an adorable 10 month crossbreed lop. Otto was rescued from a horrendous pet shop with his brother Mac. Unfortunately, Mac passed away two weeks after coming home with us. Otto took a little time to bond and hadn’t found a real partner until number 6 came along!

Number 5 is Jovie, a mischievous 8 month crossbreed. Jovie’s bonding went well and was part of the family within the week. Jovie is very much like Buddy, independent and adventurous so they have formed a companionship within the fluffle!

Number 6 is Otto’s much larger soulmate, Tabitha. Tabs is a 10 month old albino lop (New Zealand potentially) who we adopted being informed that she was blind. After Lucy examining her, it turns out Tabs is not blind but actually deaf! We were a little sensitive about Tabs’ bonding process as we wanted to make it as calming as possible for her and the fluffle. Tabs became part of the gang and loved up with Otto in under a week!

Number 7 is Rafa, named after a hybrid of Blaire's favourite tennis player and our business! Rafa is a Netherland Dwarf and looks hilariously silly when sitting next to big Buddy. Lucy adopted him as nobody bizarrely wanted him at the PAH Store. He is a true gentleman and very lovable.

Number 8, 9 and 10 came after we were looking for a girlfriend for Rafa. We went to another horrendous pet shop to rescue a lovely harlequin-ish lop in the summer heatwave of 2022. Whilst taking her, we couldn't help but notice two other rabbits, both similar colourings but one lionhead and one pricked-ear bunny, struggling to withstand these terrible conditions in the heat. We couldn't leave them, so after reporting the shop to the RSPCA, we took all three home. Welcome to the fluffle, Mila (harlequins), Wilf (lionhead) and Woody (pricked-ear).

All of our fluffle are free-roam indoor bunnies with opportunities to be outside. We can’t see 10 being our final number!

**EDITED: Unfortunately Buddy and Mila are no longer with us, but our fluffle continues to grow

The group de-stabilised once we lost Buddy and Mila and unfortunately Woody got injured. We decided to separate him completely. This meant we had to find him a wife and, long, story short, along came Macy, Willie and Fig.

Number 11 is Macy, our carefree, inquisitive little girl. She has a close bond with Woody and it is so beautiful to see Woody get the love and attention he lacked with our original group. She's a trouble maker escaping her pen despite the numerous reinforcements but her curiosity is incredibly endearing.

Willie captured Blaire's heart as he was unfortunately being rehomed due to fighting with another male. His name is derived from the injuries he sustained from his old partner! He is a beautiful dutch cross with big silly ears and has a relaxed placid personality, similar to Jovie. He loves a fuss from us and can do no wrong in Blaire's eyes.

Fig is the latest addition and Willie's wife. She was dumped in a box as a pregnant doe covered in matts. After she had successfully weaned her babies her matts were all shaved and she came home. Her coat is very difficult to keep on top of as an Angora cross so she has to be shaved every three months. Her, Willie, Macy and Woody are now in a group of 4 and seem finally settled.
